Under the creative direction of film director Stew Birbrower, one idea for a Public Service Announcement (PSA) grew into six incredibly emotionally and gripping stories to raise awareness about the effects of domestic violence. The commercials were filmed at one of the empty penthouses at the Working Artists of Ventura (WAV). Many of the volunteers - beginning with Stew Birbrower, actors, stage hands, professional cinematographers, and a gaffer - donated their time and expertise to the creating of these gripping PSAs. Michele Foster, director of Artesia Healing Arts, shares her personal experience in the PSA called "Kitchen." In it she shares her emotional struggle to leave a violent relationship and the effects it had on her. For her, art saved her and gave her back her voice.
